Anemia Reference Tool

The Anemia Reference tool provides useful information for healthcare professionals, in a pocket-size, laminated card.

Side 1 contains an algorithm for diagnosis & treatment of anemia in the elderly, reprinted from "Anemia in the Elderly"; American Family Physician, Volume 62, No. 7.

Side 2 provides charts with recommended daily intake of iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12 - the most common nutritional deficiencies that would lead to anemia. Also included are food sources of iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12 to assist in counselling patients with nutritional anemia.

The Anemia Reference Tool was packaged with the May 2003 issue of Canadian Family Physician and with selected issues of the Medical Post. Download the file here, or order copies through our online order form.
